When Resilience Comes in Pink and Blue: A Lesson from a Seven-Year-Old

There are days when the weight of the world feels like it’s resting entirely on your shoulders. For me, those days often come with a physical price tag. If you know my story, you know I don’t just talk about resilience because it’s a buzzword in the business consulting world; I live it because I have to. Living with fibromyalgia means that some mornings, the "hustle" looks less like a sprint and more like a slow, painful crawl.

On this particular Monday, the pain was loud. It was one of those days where the fog of chronic pain tries to dim the vision I have for Fail Forward Enterprise Holdings LLC. I was sitting there, trying to focus on the mission, equipping leaders, cultivating unity, and pushing the "Vote for Stone" campaign, but my body was telling me to just stop.

Then, there was a knock at the door.

It wasn't a client. It wasn't a delivery. It was my seven-year-old neighbor, Noelie. And in her hands, she held a lesson in resilience that no Ivy League business school could ever teach.

The Gift on the Doorstep

When I opened the door, Noelie didn't just give me a drawing. She presented a full-scale installation of hope.

There she was, holding a Cinderella doll, but this wasn't the pristine princess you see in the movies. This Cinderella was surrounded by pink and blue construction paper signs, taped together with the kind of chaotic perfection only a child can manage, complete with little hand-drawn hearts that made the whole gift feel even more personal.

The messages written in her careful, seven-year-old handwriting were front and center and hit me harder than any corporate strategy session ever could:

"Vote for stone every day" "God is with you forever"

In that moment, the physical pain didn't magically vanish, but it shifted. It took a backseat to the overwhelming sense of community and faith. Noelie didn't know I was having a flare-up. She didn't know I was struggling to find the energy to push through the next phase of the "Entrepreneur of Impact" campaign. She just knew that Stone needed some encouragement, and she delivered it in pink and blue.

Resilience is a Community Effort

At Fail Forward, we often say that setbacks are stepping stones. Usually, we’re talking about a failed business launch, a rejected loan application, or a legal hurdle. But resilience is also about how we handle the personal setbacks, the health battles, the exhaustion, and the moments of doubt.

What Noelie reminded me of is that we aren't meant to be resilient in a vacuum. We talk about the "humble hustler mindset" a lot in the Bronx. It’s that grit, that "Bronx Bred, Jesus Led" energy that keeps us moving. But even the strongest hustler needs a village.

Seeing those signs, "Vote for stone every day", was a reminder that the work we do at Fail Forward Inc. isn't just about my personal success. It’s about the impact we have on the people watching us. Noelie is watching. She sees the "Vote for Stone" flyers in the neighborhood. She sees the movement we’re building. And her response was to join the fight in the best way she knew how.

The Entrepreneur of Impact

The "Vote for Stone" campaign (the Entrepreneur of Impact initiative) is more than just a title. It’s a commitment to use every resource I have, every bit of the $712,000+ we’ve secured for clients, every mentorship session, and every community resource, to lift others up.

When I looked at that Cinderella doll, I realized that Noelie was essentially giving me my own "Shield of Faith." In the business world, we get so caught up in the "Polished Shield", the professional look, the sleek branding, the numbers. But the "Heritage Heart", the part of us that stays connected to our roots and our faith, is what actually sustains the shield.

The simplicity of her message, "God is with you forever," is the ultimate business strategy. If you believe you are "Blessed, aligned and divinely protected," then a bad day or a painful flare-up is just a temporary detour, not a dead end.

Why We "Fail Forward"

The core of our business consulting at Fail Forward Enterprise Holdings LLC is helping people understand that failure isn't the opposite of success; it’s a part of it.

When I’m stuck on the couch because of fibromyalgia, it feels like a failure of my body. But through Noelie’s eyes, I’m still the leader worth voting for "every day." She doesn't see the pain; she sees the purpose.

This is what we teach our clients. Whether you are navigating the complexities of business in NY, NJ, PA, CT, CA, FL, or GA, you have to learn to see your setbacks through a lens of hope. Our community resource portal is designed to give you the tools to do exactly that, but sometimes the best "tool" is a reminder from a child that you aren't doing this alone.

Warriors of Justice

As I continue to write and work on the Guerreros De Justice book (Warriors of Justice), I’m constantly reminded of the different forms a warrior can take. Sometimes a warrior wears a suit and argues in a boardroom. Sometimes a warrior is a "humble hustler" working two jobs to fund a dream. And sometimes, a warrior is a seven-year-old girl with some construction paper and a Cinderella doll.

We are all fighting battles. Some are visible, like the ones we tackle in our legal resource sections (remember, I’m not an attorney, so always consult a qualified pro for your specific legal needs!). Other battles are invisible, like chronic illness or the mental toll of entrepreneurship.

But the lesson Noelie taught me is that resilience is a choice we make every day. We choose to "Vote for Stone", to vote for ourselves, our mission, and our community, even when we feel like we’re falling short.

A Sincere Thank You

I want to take a moment to thank you, the readers, the clients, and the community members who have been part of this journey. Your trust in Fail Forward Enterprise Holdings LLC means the world to me. Whether you’re here for business coaching, personal mentoring, or just to hear a story of hope, I appreciate you engaging with this mission.

When I share these personal moments, it’s because I want you to know that the person behind the brand is human. I struggle, I hurt, and I sometimes need a seven-year-old to remind me of the truth. But as long as I have breath, I will keep failing forward, and I’ll keep helping you do the same.

If you’re looking to join the movement, check out our latest updates on the About page or browse our blogs for more stories of resilience.

And remember, whether you’re buying the Guerreros De Justice book or investing in our consulting services, we offer flexible payment options through AfterPay, Affirm, and Klarna to make sure these resources are accessible to everyone who needs them.

Resilience isn't always about the grand gesture. Sometimes, it’s pink, blue, and handwritten. It’s the realization that God is with us forever, and that our community is standing behind us, even when we’re too tired to stand ourselves.

Keep pushing, keep hustling, and never underestimate the power of a small act of kindness.
